Emei Shan Travel Guide

Located 150 kilometers south of Chengdu, Mount Emei, or Emei Shan, stands at 3099 meters above sea level. As one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China, Mount Emei has long been a place of pilgrimage. However, don’t imagine that this makes it a place of quiet and solitude - the main routes up the mountain are well trodden by pilgrims, tourists, and hawkers. That being said, the craggy mountain scenery and mist wrapped peaks make it worth the trip.

Many people choose to stay at the summit of the mountain and see the sunrise. Once at the summit, there are temples to visit, as well as a selection of basic restaurants and hotels.
