Covering five incredible destinations, the Yunnan Ethnic Culture Tour includes all of the best this province has to offer, from the rich ethnic diversity of its charming ancient towns to its breathtaking natural landscapes.
This tour starts in Kunming, the capital and largest city of Yunnan. Here, you will have a chance to visit the Stone Forest Geological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site made up of out-of-this-world rock formations, before taking the high-speed train to the ancient town of Dali.
While in Dali, you will explore the town’s well-preserved Bai-style houses, and you will have the opportunity to visit a local Bai family's home for lunch to learn more about local culture. You’ll also get to see Dali’s famed Chongsheng Three Pagodas, remnants of an ancient kingdom dating back to the 9th century. From there, your tour will take you to the smaller Shaxi Ancient Town, which will seduce you with its authentic and peaceful atmosphere.
Next, you’ll head to Lijiang Old Town for two nights, giving you time to soak up the town’s stunning mountain scenery and vibrant nightlife, Of course, we will also take you outside the old town to visit such unmissable attractions as Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Baisha Ancient Village.
The final leg of your tour will take you to Shangri-La, considered heaven on earth by many. During the scenic drive to Shangri-La, you will have time to stop and admire the amazing landscape of the Tibetan Plateau, including such unique sights as Tiger Leaping Gorge and Haba Snow Mountain. Once in Shangri-la, you will visit the magnificent Tibetan Buddhist sanctuary of Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, as well as the charming old town of Dukezong.
