Elephant Trunk HillGuilin 象鼻山 Elephant Trunk Hill, located at located at the intersection of the Taohua River and the Lijiang River, is the symbol of the city of Guilin. If you are in Guilin it is one of the places you "must" see. However if you are not a fan of Chinese cultural history, you may not find it all that exciting. If you are there, by all means visit it for 20 minutes, its right in the city center, but if you are bypassing Guilin and going straight to Yangshuo, you will see much more dramatic scenery there.
It is called Elephant Trunk Hill because it looks like an elephant drinking water. The gap that is under the elephant’s trunk is called the Water-Moon Cave because at night the reflection of the moon can be seen through the arch. It is said to look like it is under the water and floating on the surface of the water at the same time.
