Shuhe old town
Shuhe old town, located 3 miles (4 km) away from Lijiang, is what Lijiang once was before it became completely developed by tourism. Shuhe has all the good points of Lijiang old town, the shops, restaurants, culture and pedestrian streets, without the masses of tourists and noisy nightlife.
Shuhe boasts some nice boutique hotels and it's a good place to base yourself during a stay in the Lijiang area. The four star Australia House hotel and the five star Pullman hotel are both close to Shuhe.
