Tibet Hiking & China Classic Sights

Traveling to different parts of China is stimulating and rewarding as you will experience vast differences in culture and environments. Begin in Beijing, the capital city. Visit historic sites of the Emperor's reign and contrast them with those of today's era: the olympic arenas. Then to Xian, the ancient capital and the start of the ancient silk road trade route. Moving on you will enter a different history within Chinese borders, that of Tibet. An area of little human habitation and vast distances at high altitudes, the Tibetan landscape and temples will reveal colors, detailed paintings and carvings illustrating a history both peaceful and turbulent. Experience rural Tibetan culture in a trekking adventure at high altitudes. Back East, in the foothills of the Tibetan plateau you enter the world of the giant panda in Sichuan province. Around and in Chengdu, watch pandas at play in the world heritage panda research base, try spicy Sichuanese cuisine, peruse the beauty of China in scroll painting form. Lastly, travel on down to the rivers and rice fields amongst the karst mountains of Yangshuo. You will trek, cave, raft and climb in this area of picturesque scenery. Watch the story of Guilin's culture unfold in a night show on water.
