Zhongyue Temple

The Zhongyue Taoist temple is a UNESCO world heritage site and is not so commonly visited by tourists. Compared to the White Horse Temple it gets a lot less traffic and is in some ways more spectacular. You can feel the history in the expansive grounds. When we were there we found monks chanting in the furthest hall. They were not doing it as a show for tourists. The grounds are spread out and its a nice place to find peace and quiet. if you can fit the Zhongyue temple into your itinerary we think you will enjoy it.
