Liujiang Old Town

There are many “ancient towns” in Sichuan, and Liujiang, located about 130km away from Chengdu in Hongya County, is one of the 10 largest in the province.

Liujiang offers a very quiet getaway to experience 800 years of history. The little town is quite photogenic and is home to some trees that are almost 1,000 years old.

How to get there:
Take the bus from Xin’nanmen Bus Station to Hongya. Buses run from 07:40 to 17:40 and cost 41 CNY. Once in Hongya station, transfer to another bus; the ride will take 50 minutes to Liujiang. You can also take a cab for about 80-100 CNY. The total journey should take around 3 hours. Note that the last bus from Hongya departs just after 17:00 and arrives at Shiyangchang Bus Station.
