Xidi Village

Xidi Village

On the southern slopes of Huanghan, Xidi is a small village in Southern Anhui that is as authentically Chinese today as it was when first built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). The village was originally named “Xichuan”, which means west river, because of the various streams that trickled through the cobbled streets and open public courtyards.

A sea of black-tiled roofs, small bridges and bright yellow flowers bursting from cracked white-washed walls inspire scores of Chinese art students, that come from all over China to paint this stunning Chinese hamlet. Xidi is also home to some of the most impressive family mansion homes in all of China, with high ceilings and dark wood features.
