When to visit
As you may well be aware, China is a pretty big country, so the best time to visit varies from place to place. For example, Beijing is pleasant in the spring and fall, but can be unbearably hot in summer and exceedingly cold in winter. The south, on the other hand, has more of a tropical climate with a rainy season, cool season and hot season.
If possible, try to avoid traveling during China’s main national holidays: Chinese New Year (January/February) and National Day (week commencing October 1). Major tourist sites won’t be closed but you will feel like you’re visiting them with hundreds of thousands of your closest friends.
